The 9U Stix won the 9U Pony Elite Fall State Tournament in Burleson this weekend after going 1-1 in pool play. As a result of losing a pool play game the day started off at the baseball field at 9 AM. And due to the boys bats being on fire on a cold day, their day did not end until 10:30 PM. quickscores/Orgs/ResultsDisplay.php?OrgDir=ase&LeagueID=574809 A short recap of the games are below: First game started around 9:45 AM CST and Brody and Jackson teamed up along with great defense for a no-hit win over the 8u NTX Bulls. The bats started off great with the boys getting 12 runs on 8 hits with only 5 base on balls. In the game there was 2 doubles and 1 triple. Tristan was able to turn a double into a triple with his speed. The second game started around 1:15 PM CST and the boys being the away team came out swinging against the DFW Express-Okon. The game was decided quickly since the boys scored 8 runs in the first three innings (5 runs in the first inning due to a RBI double by Jack, an RBI single by Maxwell, an error, and an RBI double by Angel) The final was 12-5. The boys scored 12 runs on 11 hits with only 1 base on balls. The boys power showed with 4 doubles in the game. The third game was the semi-final game which started around 5:00 PM CST against the NTX Bulls-Jaggers. This game was a close game due to the bats going a little cold but the pitching and defense stepped up to get the 4-1 victory. The NTX Bulls couldnt get anything going as long as Austin was pitching. The NTX Bulls managed just one hit off Austin, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out eight during his four innings of work. The boys scored 4 runs on 5 hits with only 3 base on balls. There were 2 doubles in this game. The championship game against the Burleson Titans started around 8:00 PM CST due to a late ending semi-final game. After losing the coin toss the boys were the away team and got off to an early 1-0 lead in the first. In the third inning the game was tied 1-1 due to Jack pitching strikes and our defense stepping up and making plays. In the fourth inning, the boys bats once again were on fire. The boys scored 5 in the fourth, 3 in the fifth and 6 in the sixth and ended up beating the Burleson Titans 15-5. The Titans used 6 pitchers in the game. The boys scored 15 runs on 16 hits with only 4 base on balls. There were 4 doubles (two of them where on balls that hit the center field fence 195 ft, Max hit one 190 ft and Angel hit one 194.5 ft hitting the top rail of the fence). Overall team effort by everyone. The championship game went 6 innings due to the 1 hr and 45 min time limit which was reached in the top of the sixth inning so the game lasted over 2 hrs. Very proud of the boys which pitched and hit solid all Sunday. Great job Stix. Note: The last picture is dark since they turned the lights off on us, that is how late the game went.
