The AGM of the Football Conference Youth Alliance (FCYA) has taken - TopicsExpress

The AGM of the Football Conference Youth Alliance (FCYA) has taken place today and the number of teams competing next season in a nine-division format will be a staggering 100. Reaching the century is a milestone and grateful thanks is extended to the title sponsors, Prospect Training Services and Education Through Sport, for the part they have played in sustainability of such a large competition. The FCYA now has its own dedicated offices situated in Worcester, with three members of staff and a hard working committee who oversee its regulatory powers. During the meeting the FCYA was able to announce that clubs are to share 1,200 Jako balls and 1,000 sub bibs via Surridge Sports. In such a short time the league has grown nationwide to become the largest in the 16-19 age category with each team being aligned to a college or education provider. Chairman Wayne Allen commented: "The work now undertaken by the committee and staff is a testament to how professional we are at what we do. We have a niche place in the football market and this cannot be better demonstrated than the twenty-two new clubs joining us for next season. This indicates how well we are seen to operate on a national stage and how attractive we are in assisting football clubs to foster good local community links." New clubs having connections above the Football Conference level for the coming season are Crewe Alexandra, Crystal Palace, Notts County, Southampton and West Ham United. It is the desire of the FCYA to have a team from every member club of the Football Conference within the competition, which also permits admission the Premier League to Step 4 in the pyramid, so it was pleasing to see Altrincham, Eastbourne Borough, Farnborough, Gosport Borough, Hyde FC, Macclesfield Town, Solihull Moors, Southport and Stockport County all entering into membership for the first time. That takes the Conference committment up to thirty-five - so just a fraction over 50% at this time.
