The ANC missed the mark big time by its failure to participate in the Montserrado county Senatorial race. Whoever is advising the ANC, faltered on this one immensely. They didnt look at the big picture when assessing the situation prior to coming up with the decision to not participate. Their assessment was unilateral as they only looked at the risk factor involved of not having a chance based on the two big names in the race. (You cant be timid when you are serious about taking state power). Here you have an up-and-coming political party that is still new to the Liberian populace. One that is still trying to get their feet wet. What better opportunity could they have had to showcase their platform and introduce themselves to the Liberian people; other than participating in the senatorial race of the most populous county in the nation that they wish to govern? The opportunity was presented on a silver platter for the ANC to present their vision for Liberia to the people. For them to connect with the people. For them to sell their platform. For them to send a message that theres a new sheriff in town that cares for the people, and has interest in delivering them from poverty and corruption, but they missed the mark by acting timid and choosing not to participate. I rather try and loose than not try at all. Posterity will judge you all for failing to join the fight in stopping the Sirleafs from the perception that Liberia is their farmland. Elections are not all about the numbers. Its also about using the opportunity to sell your ideas. To introduce your platform/party and what it stands for. Its also about building the foundation to position yourself for future races. Its about testing your strengths so that you can go back to the drawing table to make improvements. I know some might argue that the ANC already has 13 candidates in other races, but I must say this,The Montserrado senatorial race is not other races. It is the most popular and pivotal race due to the names involved, due to the size and population of the county. When we talk about center stage, this is indeed center stage. This is the one chance they had to join forces in fighting against the Sileafs, in preventing her possible succession agenda. They disappointed the Liberian people by not joining the fight to reject the Sirleafs. This decision to abstain from the race will hunt them in the future. ANC, I know I get on your case at times, and it has been long since I bother you guys...LOL, but you guys acted gbelleh mehn.
