The APC finally kicks off in Ekiti Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti sleepy capital, stood still for several hours Monday, as party faithful, interest groups and members of the public officially welcomed the newly registered All Progressives Congress. The flag of the new party was launched and hoisted amidst pomp and pageantry with Governor Kayode Fayemi, calling all Nigerians to embrace the APC, which he said was put together to rescue the country from bad governance, brigandage and systemic failure – a system he said the ruling Peoples Democratic Party embodies. Dr. Fayemi lowered the flag of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, and hoisted the APC’s at the Governor’s Office and later, at the headquarters of his campaign office in Ado-Ekiti. The state APC chairman, Chief Olajide Awe, performed the same ritual at the state secretariat of the party at the Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters. Fayemi, echoing the the of National Chairman, Bisi Akande, said that the APC will not discriminate against any person who is ready to embrace the party.
