The ASC said farewell to retiring researcher Dr Dick Foeken, with a crowded party and a wonderful dinner afterwards. Dick has been very important for the Centre as its deputy director for many years, as the coordinator for the Centres more than 300 publications in its own series since 1994 (see photo), and as a very productive and influential researcher. First in the Food and Nutrition Studies Programme and later with research about urban agriculture and water governance in small urban centres. Dicks focus was on Kenya, but also published about Cameroon, Benin and Tanzania. His work was cited by colleagues all over the world more than 100 times in 2013 alone! He will continue working on his projects as a retired guest researcher at the ASC. That means he will continue sharing his wisdom, and friendship with many at the ASC like he did for almost 27 years! Dick: dankjewel!
