The ASUM Student Political Action (SPA) Director opportunity: Is responsible for the proper representation of the students’ interest in the community outside the University of Montana campus including, but not limited to, the Montana Legislature, the United States Congress, various county commissions and city councils, the State of Montana, and the executives of these legislative bodies. This person will organize campaigns, work with the ASUM Lobbyist, coordinate with legislators, and will attend Missoula City Council meetings. This person answers and reports to the SPA Committee, the ASUM President and the ASUM Senate. This person is supervised by the ASUM President. The SPA Director must have experience with social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and various media art programs (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher, etc.) for the purpose of advertising events or promoting awareness of a particular issue. They must have well-developed listening skills and the ability to operate effectively and efficiently in a group setting as well as independently. The SPA Director will earn $8.30 per hour with a maximum of 15 hours of work per week, and has the opportunity to earn internship or independent study credits for their work.
