The Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Ghonda assembly constituency in northeast Delhi and his brother were injured after two persons attacked them. They alleged the attackers warned them against contesting elections from the area. LN Sharma, the AAP candidate, and his brother Chakresh sustained injuries after two persons hit them with baton late on Thursday night. A complaint had been made at the Jaffrabad police station in northeast Delhi. The incident took place around 8.30 pm when Sharma was standing near the main gate of his residence in Ghonda village - a portion of which acts as AAP’s local office. He was talking on his mobile phone and had his back to the road when two men hit him from behind. “One of them was drunk and the other was wielding a wooden baton. First, they beat me up and said they will see to it that I don’t fight the elections on an AAP ticket. When my brother and others came out to help me out, they beat up my brother too,” Sharma said. The duo kicked and punched the two brothers, hurled abuses and repeatedly threatened them. When they called the police, the two men fled, Sharma said. Despite repeated attempts, none of the police officials were available to ascertain if an FIR has been lodged on Sharma’s complaint or not.
