The Afenifere Yoruba socio-cultural group at the weekend drew attention of the federal government to what it described as the deplorable state of the Lagos -Ibadan expressway. According to a statement by its national publicity secretary, Yinka Odumakin, the road has remained in a state of disrepair for about 15 years, a situation, it claims has led to several accidents claiming uncountable number of lives. “The physical strain of this anomaly is unquantifiable. A prominent Lagos lawyer found himself locked on that road for about 10 hours a few years back and did not wake up the following morning when he managed to reach his house. “We have had promises of work commencing on that road severally in recent times but we are yet to see action. The state of that road is totally unacceptable and we want to see commencement of real reconstruction — not patchwork -without further delay. A timely action to stop the rituals of carnage taking place on that road will signpost responsiveness and responsibility in governance”, he said. dailytrust.ng/index.php/news-news/57505-afenifere-wants-quick-action-on-lagos-ibadan-expressway
