The Albemarle Opera House was located above Starnes Jewelry Store. It was in operation between 1908 and about 1916. Unfortunately pictures of the performance hall when it was in use have never surfaced. These photos, from a April 18, 1952 article in the SNAP by Fred Morgan, are the oldest that have been found. Upstairs outside the opera house there were numerous businesses and offices between 1908 and roughly the 1950s. Only one picture has been found that shows one of these businesses. The last photo is of the Baltimore Beauty Shop from the late 1930s.
