The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari will not follow the footsteps of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in raising fund for his campaign. This was disclosed by the national coordinator, Buhari Support Organisations, Ibrahim H. Abdulkarim while shedding light on the decision of Buhari to emulate the likes of President Barack Obama in fund raising. Buhari had disclosed that he would follow the footsteps of President Barack Obama who mobilised common people to generate the fund he used for his election. The ruling party generated over N21billion few days ago which has been generating controversy. According to Abdulkarim, “General Buhari is in the race because of the masses and we strongly believe the same people are in support of his plan to lead the country out of the mess we find ourselves as a result of poor management of the economy by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)” Speaking exclusively to our correspondent in Abuja, the Buhari associate disclosed that all his supporters would mobilise support for him in all the 774 local government councils. Speaking at the media briefing organised by the Buhari Support Organisations on Tuesday, Buhari promised to judiciously spend the donations that come his way. “I promised during the take off that I will take responsibility of the account,we are here today to give you an update on the progress made so far,” he said. He said that the campaign fund account has so far received a donation of about N 54,415,386.70 through direct deposits in its First Bank account and sales of recharge cards. Buhari said in order to ensure transparency in the utilisation of the funds, he is the sole signatory to the account who has the power to withdraw money from the account. He urged his supporters to make the necessary sacrifice to fund his campaign for a better Nigeria.
