The Amador Water Agency has been working with county fire agencies - TopicsExpress

The Amador Water Agency has been working with county fire agencies on a comprehensive program of fire hydrant inspections. Fire crews are testing the Water Agency-owned hydrants and making sure that firefighters can access each hydrant in the event of a fire. Sutter Creek Fire Chief Dominic Moreno stated crews are systematically getting out to each of the 1205 hydrants in Amador County, and they’re making pretty good progress in spite of this summer’s busy fire season. All hydrants in Ione have been inspected, about 90 percent in Lake Camanche Village, and about 70 percent in the Upcountry. Inspections are just beginning in Sutter Creek, Amador City and Drytown and all areas should be completed this fall. The next goal is to get every AWA fire hydrant painted yellow for visibility and consistency throughout the county. Community volunteers including homeowners and road associations, and the AmadorCity maintenance department have begun painting hydrants in their areas. The Water Agency provides paint and brushes. Anyone interested in helping out in their neighborhood should call AWA Clerk of the Board Cris Thompson at 223-3018.
