The American Folklife Center joins the nation in mourning the death and celebrating the life of poet, essayist and playwright Maya Angelou. As an African American writer, educator, historian, and civil rights advocate, Angelou was one of many cultural and intellectual leaders interviewed by the National Visionary Leadership Project, whose videotaped oral history interviews are part of the AFC archive. You can view the NVLPs page on Angelou, and see excerpts from her interviews, at the link.
