The Andy Gardener Blog Day 2/7 Phew, a bit warm! Still, prob cooler than in the air-conditioned office Ive left behind. Two sites today. A quick review: Day 2 Out at 7.30 am to Thorrington Street, a small hamlet about nine miles away to one of my newer customers who have an approx 1/3rd acre garden surrounding three sides of a recent cottage re-furb. Another sheltered site, lots of mature shrub borders and a decent sized lawn which led me to invest in a tractor mower. However the mower is currently getting a puncture repaired plus a minor fault sorted so my old but brutish honda hover took up the challenge today. Half way through the cut two bolts on the handle sheered which meant some improvisation with some strong garden wire to get to the end - quite pleased with my inginuity! That took about 90 mins, the following 3 1/2 hours was split between weeding and pruning into shape a medlar apple tree. Then popped home for a caffine injection before popping in to Buildbase to put a quote together for a small backyard project job. Then travelled to my afternoon slot at a small hamlet about two miles out of Hadleigh - an approx two acre garden with lots of different things in it, my focus today being to weed through a new bed I created back in May and then mulch over three separate herb beds. Fairly routine work though next week at that place Im renovating a wooden wendy house in their woodland area. Home via the allotment where spuds, courgettes and raspberries were harvested. Back indoors at 6.15 pm. Now gonna break open a bottle of champagne to mark (a day late) the start of my new job plus the end of term for Cams and Liz.
