The Annunciation and Incarnation of the Only Begotten Son of God in the virginal womb of Mary . Solemnity - . Feast Day : March 25 - . In Jesus, God recapitulates all of his history of salvation on behalf of men and the Annunciation heralds the beginning of our salvation. By Marys obedient Fiat, the earth has become heaven. In Jesus, God has placed, in the midst of barren, despairing mankind,a new beginning which is not a product of human history but a gift from above (Pope Benedict XVI). Thus, giving her consent to Gods word, Mary becomes the mother of Jesus. Espousing the divine will for salvation wholeheartedly, without a single sin to restrain her, she gave herself entirely to the person and to the work of her Son; she did so in order to serve the mystery of redemption with him and dependent on him, by Gods grace. (Catechism of the Catholic Church) God our Father, your Word became man and was born of the Virgin Mary. May we become more like Jesus Christ, whom we acknowledge as our redeemer, God and man. We ask this through our Lourd Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. (Opening prayer) For over four thousand years the earth was waiting for the promised Saviour , and the hour of liberation has come , at last , here is the Redeemer! A scene of mysterious grandeur Translates from the splendor of heaven, holy and adorable Trinity wants advice. To repair the damage done to the infinite Divinity by sin, must be infinite repair and therefore divine , the Son of God came down from his eternal throne , He takes human flesh to restore the unity of God and man. The heavenly message is given by the Archangel Gabriel. Where will you find someone who , according to Gods plan , will give birth to the Savior of the world ? Is it a great empire ? No, in the small province of Galilee , lost in the middle of the vast Roman Empire. Should not at least take someone from a throne to pass to be the Mother of his God ? No: in the small town of Nazareth , in a poor and humble house where lives an unknown young virgin whose name was Mary and she is betrothed to a worker , Joseph, the just man . For now, she prays on his knees, and sighs perhaps the Messiah promised someday. The angel suddenly appears in front of her : Hail, full of grace , he said , the Lord is with thee , blessed art thou among women! Mary is surprised by these amazing words. But the angel immediately revived the confidence of the shy virgin : Fear not, Mary , he adds, you have found favor with God because you will conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Jesus, for He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High , and His kingdom will have no end . What promise , what honor and happiness! But how will the way you operate this wonder if she has dedicated her virginity to God ? The answer is easy for the Messenger of Heaven : The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you . Mary has only to pronounce the Fiat will shake the land of hope : Behold the handmaid of the Lord , be it unto me according to your word . At this time of blessing, the mystery is achieved, the Word was made flesh, and Mary soon sing a hymn of gratitude : My soul magnifies the Lord , and my heart rejoices in God my Savior !
