The Anonymous People screening event is just the first step in introducing the new recovery advocacy movement to Saratoga Springs and the surrounding area. As the film revealed, several communities across the country have already taken actions to change the conversation about the disease of addiction and the solutions imbedded in recovery voices. To save lives, it is time that we, too, lend our voice to the movement. Recovery Advocacy In Saratoga-Our Voice, is the next step in accomplishing this goal. It is a grassroots/volunteer based Recovery Community Organization I am developing with the help of others in the community constructed in the image of other similar organizations that have enjoyed success in other cities in America. R.A.I.S. is an organization independent of the many other entities that support recovery in our area such as treatment facilities and 12-step support groups but it is intended to work hand-in-hand with every available resource to promote and enhance the recovery community and its vital role in prevention, awareness and education of the disease of addiction. Its primary purpose is to offer support to those who still suffer and to guide them to viable solutions that already exist locally. Promotion and exposure of the organization is necessary to reach those who need our help. There are many ways in which you can support our efforts. If you have interest in how to improve the wellness of your community, please join us at our first Community Listening Forum, Tuesday, July 22nd at The Saratoga Arts Center, 7:00pm.
