The Apollo 1 fire, the Challenger Disaster...the Loss of the Columbia...the very, very recent VirginGalactic SpaceShipTwo Crash...all the known Russian Cosmonauts like the Soyuz 11 losses on re-entry do to an oxygen malfunction and Vladimir Komarovs parachute failure (where story is he dies screaming in rage at the shoddy work by the capsules engineers - and any Chinese Taikonauts who have died but the Chinese government have not reported it. And to all those who will die IN THE FUTURE. I always am reminded every disaster of this speech by Kirk, from the original Star Trek series. *OF COURSE* WE *OWE* IT to DO OUR BEST - and NOT cut corners - to make manned spaceflight as safe as possible. That is our duty. We cant just shrug and say Eh, hey, they took a risk! But no matter how well we do, even when we do our very best- spaceflight - space travel and space exploration ARE RISKY - AT THERE ARE *GINNA* BE LOSSES THAT WE CANT PREVENT. No matter what. Now there are always some who say, when another disaster and loss of life happen, that Maybe space travel is *too* risky! Maybe the price is high. But like Kirk sy in this speech; Risk is our business. (And as then President Ronald Reagan said after the Challenger Loss (and he said very little that I agree with, but I once had this on a Young Astronauts poster; The Future Belongs To The Brave. https://youtube/watch?v=toG6aSQFF7Y
