The Apostles Doctrine of The Kingdom, Power and Glory And Your Sonship To God The Father, Traditionally, and made popular by one verse in the Bible we have looked at the apostles doctrine as only principally being about Acts 2:38-47. Acts 2:38-47 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39“For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!” 41So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. 42They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. And so we, not God, made the apostles doctrine to be about baptism in the name of Jesus and the receiving of the Holy Ghost, the Lord adding to the Church and unity only, and never discovered that what God was and is doing is expanding His Kingdom and its culture among those who voluntarily submit themselves to Him, having confessed that His Son Jesus is the Christ, the anointed King of the Kingdom which is present now and the One who will be the King yet to return with the eternal Kingdom, that the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our God. So we turned the Acts account of the apostles doctrine into the only doctrine of the apostles. We ignorantly omitted all the years that they were with Jesus learning and eventually preaching the doctrine of the Kingdom and of Christ. We separated the 3 1/2 years of Jesus preaching, teaching and demonstrating the Kingdom and delegating the message, mission and power to the disciples who He had chosen, and relegated it all to just a Pentecostal event, one whose relevance is debated today by many Baptist and other mainstream denominations, while promulgated by other denominational and non-denominational groups. We totally omitted the preached message of the Kingdom and made the only message of the apostles was the doctrine of salvation and baptism in the Holy Spirit. Sadly, whether you believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit or not, the failure of todays Christianity is that weve stopped at an event surrounding the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and the price He paid for mans salvation but we omitted the Kingdom message He came preaching and have developed churches and institutions as monuments to our hermeneutics but have not advanced the Kingdom of God as Jesus commanded His disciples to do in the great commission. Matthew 28:18-20 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Jesus commanded His disciples He previously had named apostles, to go and make students, rulers in training, followers of all that Jesus preached and did, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost (Jesus) and TEACHING THEM ALL THINGS WHATSOEVER JESUS COMMANDED (past-tense). To omit Jesus preached doctrine of the Kingdom and only preach a message of salvation was not the great commission. One claiming to be an apostle today must become as rooted and grounded in the knowledge of the King and His Kingdom and its present implication for all that would submit to Jesus reign as they are knowledgeable about anything else in the Bible. Unfortunately today there are those who profess apostleship but theirs is not the message of the King and the Kingdom. These leaders, a great number of them self-appointed and affirmed by those who know no better, are more preoccupied with the restoration of father/son relationships based on Malachis prophecy then they are preoccupied with preaching the same Kingdom message Jesus preached and commanded the apostles to preach. Nowhere did God or Jesus command that restoration of fathers to sons would be preached as a type of prophetic mandate. Weve created inferences from the verses weve read but there is no such mandate. The proof of this truth I am sharing is found in Jesus own words about the effect of His having come with the gospel message of the Kingdom and its cost. Jesus who preached the Kingdom of God preaches a message that unites those who believe but also divides and will even cause your enemies to be those of your very own household. Matthew 10:34-36 34Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW; 36and A MANS ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD. Micah 7:6 For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises up against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law-- a mans enemies are the members of his own household. Do you see it? Jesus in Matthews account was quoting the prophet Micah. Somehow weve omitted Jesus quote, disregarded it like Jesus never said it (the Holy Spirit just in the second that I am writing this sentence said that most of you didnt even know that Jesus was quoting the prophet Micah). Oh the pride and ego of religious men and women who think theyve arrived and deserve to be called mom and dad. Yes these are terms of endearment but where the gospel of the Kingdom is absent and the church is not being equipped to really do the work of taking this Kingdom message and Christ throughout the nations of the world, those laying claim to such titles are themselves not equipped with the right message. Lets look further at what Jesus said. Matthew 10:21 Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. Luke 12:53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law. I have learned brothers and sisters that you can preach a truth [out of context] and preach it fervently only strengthening your resolve, yet at best you are believing a half truth, and a half truth preached to an extreme is a whole lie. Is God restoring fathers to sons? To hear many self-professed apostles today the prophetic declaration of Malachi was that spiritual fathers would be restored to spiritual sons, but the problem is that the so-called spiritual fathers do not have a real working knowledge of the Kingdom of God and the message Jesus commanded to be preached, and their so called spiritual sons are none the better but also fall pray to what amounts to being little more than pseudo Christianity that cannot be supported by the entirety of scripture, particularly if you have to disregard Jesus own words in order to do it. I have to stop here....no, lets look just a little further and the Lord willing we will return to teach more on the Apostles Doctrine of The Kingdom, Power and Glory at another time. The Lord my beloved brothers and sisters is the source of all things. Matthew 6:13b says; Thine is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen (So let it be so.) God purposed to manifest Himself to us through His Son, Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God. The same God that came in the person of His only begotten Son has also purposed that you would be His sons and daughters too. Today you have self-appointed apostles, professing themselves to be spiritual fathers, who have not embraced the fact that the New Birth brought you into sonship with the Father Himself. Borrowing from the supposed revelations of their favorite book authors and those authors adherents, these leaders will call you fatherless and bastards an orphan spirits if you dont have a spiritual father or ascribe to [their] restoration of fathers to sons doctrine. This my friends is NOT the apostles doctrine. The apostles of Jesus day and after His ascension would have never preached such heresy as is being preached today in the name of divine revelation. If anything in closed door meetings they may have preached and sang King Davids Psalm 65:4-6; Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts, whose name is the LORD, and exalt before Him. A FATHER TO THE FATHERLESS and a judge for the widows, is God in His holy habitation. God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land. Or maybe the apostles would have borrowed from Deuteronomy 10:18; He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. How about another Psalm of David the King. Look at Psalm 146:9; The LORD watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but frustrates the wicked. Lastly, the Church itself is called on by God to minister to the needs of the fatherless. Psalm 82:3 How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. James 1:26-27 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this mans religion is worthless. Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit the orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. My friends at one level weve made an event, the baptism of the Holy Ghost the message and have omitted all that Jesus had commanded the disciples concerning the preached doctrine of the Kingdom of God and weve manufactured theologies that are no more true than a man literally being in the moon as the old saying goes. I leave you with this....until we are rooted and grounded, not just in faith towards Jesus and love towards the saints, but we receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, having embraced the Kingdom message Jesus preached, and preaching that very same message in the image and likeness of Christ who is the express image of the Father we will continue to be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine and not even come close to what God has demanded of us, and He has commanded from the very beginning that we would be overcomers. The apostles doctrine,( and perhaps we will look at it next time), most certainly included Jesus preached doctrine of the Kingdom and your sonship with the Father God. Dont be moved by men and women who see themselves or want to see themselves as your covering, who will call you an orphan spirit and bastards because you are not submitted to them. These kinds of people, leaders if you will, see themselves as being more than what they are and so the evidence that they havent studied the Kingdom out of the mouth of Jesus shows, because had they, then they could never preach what some so-called apostles, self professed spiritual fathers are preaching today. Now just to further crush the Devils head let me say this. Pauls use of the term father in acknowledging his relationship with Timothy and Titus, and those that he had begotten through the gospel was never a term of religious pride and ego supposing that he had somehow arrived to a state of superiority over others. Such a notion was unthinkable on his part. Guard against anyone who is too unteachable to be corrected by the words of Jesus in any regard. And guard against those who chalk everything up to revelation because their favorite preacher or book author said it. Many of the leaders you may be admiring today and reading their books as pathways to pleasing God may themselves be outside of Gods will by the errors they teach in a mistaken belief that they are receiving revelation from God. Now mind you, it will be almost impossible to know the difference, unless you study the Kingdom from the mouth of Jesus. This in part is why Jesus said that you are to make Gods Kingdom and righteousness your number one priority. When you study the Kingdom out of the mouth of Jesus it takes you back to really hearing the Father again through His Son. The more you study the Kingdom listening to Jesus according to the scriptures the more you will be able to know the truth from the lies and Jesus said that by following Him (acting just like Him) and keeping His commandments you will know the truth and the truth will make you free. John 8:31-32 31So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. John the Apostle says this in the Book of Revelation concerning your sonship: Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. And Paul the Apostle said this concerning your sonship in God the Father: Romans 8:14 14For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, Abba! Father! 16The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,… My friends may the Lord give you understanding in these matters for others through their heresies risk blaspheming the One they claim to be representing.
