The Apostles Heal Many Acts 5:12-16 12 The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade. 13 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. 14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. 15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16 Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed. Observation: As the disciples prayed for people, miracles happened. They were not praying passively hoping that Jesus would heal people but rather they spoke with authority. The crowd had such faith that they believed that even falling under the shadow of them would hear their infirmities. Application: I am humbled by the faith of these people. They knew that if they showed up the God would heal them. When I read this it challenges me to change my own prayers and speak with more authority. I have the spirit of the living God inside of me. When I pray, I need to command more and complain less. I can spend time whining or I can take authority like Jesus said. Prayer: Lord, I pray for peace in my house, job, and neighborhood. I pray peace in the lives of my friends and family. Jesus, I pray your presence permeate every part of my life today to the point of spilling over to my family, friends, coworkers, and customers. I will be a light to those who need you.
