The Arab League yesterday strongly condemned hostile statements made by Hizbollah secretary general Hassan Nasrallah against Bahrain, rejecting his recurrent blatant interference in the kingdoms internal affairs. The Arab Foreign Ministers Council affirmed its keenness on preserving Arab unity and pan-Arab national security, stressing the importance of confronting all that subvert inter-Arab relations. Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa attended the meeting at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo, in the presence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The council urged the Lebanese government to assume its responsibility and voice its stance regarding Nasrallahs statements, which incite violence and terrorism, with the aim of subverting the security and stability of Bahrain and GCC states. The council denounced the flagrant interference, encroaching on the sovereignty and independence of Bahrain. It called upon Lebanon to take legal measures to avert the recurrence of such wicked and hostile statements. The council appealed to all member states to abide by the Arab League charter and international laws and covenants that affirm commitment to the principles of good neighbourliness and non-interference in other countries internal affairs. Shaikh Khalid urged the Arab League to take immediate action to build state institutions and restore stability in Libya.
