The Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce has asked FB to remove my previous post. Here is my response: I know you wanted the post I made taken down, but its important to me that I keep it posted. Those of us who vacation in Aransas Pass and who are animal lovers feel its important to vote with our dollars and we do not want to leave money in your tax base that will be used to accomplish your animal shelters inhumane mission. We also note that your mayors response to the upheaval and public dismay over recent events (his published response, end of second paragraph) indicates that he wants nuisance wildlife (that is protected by our States wildlife laws) to be killed rather than the more humane option of relocation. Im sure you know that a large part of Aransas Pass tourist industry is based in eco-tourism. Its important to those of us who frequently vacation in your area to know that the local officials walk the walk in protecting the other species we share the planet with and dont just collect tourist dollars on false pretense. We hated to take the stance of organizing a tourism boycott and will advertise to our followers when/if things are set right. Otherwise, expect picketers with pets at all entrances to your City very shortly. We hope you understand our perspective and honor our right to use this social media venue to promote our beliefs. Thank you. Susan Dancer, State licensed wildlife rehabilitator and animal rescue coordinator.
