The Assad and al-Maliki Regimes Seek to Fuel the Sectarian - TopicsExpress

The Assad and al-Maliki Regimes Seek to Fuel the Sectarian Strife Nora Al Ameer, vice president of the Syrian Coalition, said its a mistake to think that Assad may be a partner in the fight against terrorism, as his regime is an integral part of the Iranian terrorist web through which they are trying to consolidate their influence in the region. Therefore, it is vital that the international community realize the gravity of the sectarian war that the Assad and the Al Maliki regimes seek to ignite in the region to preserve the Iranian interests in the region under the guise of fighting terrorism. Al Ameer’s remarks followed the air raids carried out by Assad’s air force on the Iraqi people yesterday under the pretext of “combating terrorism.” Al Ameer also stresses that “we expected this since the outset, as Assad is rewarding Al Maliki for sending him sectarian militias to fight alongside his forces to suppress the popular uprising. These air strikes are also a message to the international community that “I am ready to fight terrorism when I receive orders to do so.” When asked how the Assad regime launch air strikes against targets inside Iraq while failing to retaliate to the Israeli air strikes against regime positions inside Syria, Al Ameer replied that “this is not surprising, as the human being is driven by their instincts to attack the enemy, and Assad and Al Maliki’s enemies are the rightful demands of the oppressed people who want to get rid of dictatorship and injustice. Assad has intentionally failed many times to protect Syria’s national sovereignty, not because he is unable to respond, but because his Iranian masters have not given him the orders.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
