The Athenians season came to an end this evening in sectional semifinal play. Crawfordsville led 5-3 after the top of the fourth, but eventually fell 8-7 in a hard fought, back-and-forth battle with the Lebanon Tigers. The Athenians got seven runs (four earned) on seven hits against Tiger ace Reid Schaller. Michael Minks handed Cville the lead with a two-run homer off the top of the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Dane Baldwin and Minks both had two hits each while Nick Page, Sam Page, Nathan Baer, and Shad Conrad all had a hit as well. Freshman Caden Jones drew three walks and scored two runs. On the mound, Garrett Phelps had 5 Ks in 4 innings while Connor Smith fanned 3 in 2 innings. Crawfordsville finishes the year ranked #3 in the final regular season coaches poll, and with a 22-9 overall record (21-6 in Indiana). The Athenians say farewell to a gritty group of dedicated senior players in #2 Dalton Scaggs, #6 Nick Page, #44 Garrett Phelps, #23 Connor Smith, #24 Shad Conrad, and #9 Nathan Baer.
