The Athens County Commissioners have scheduled a public meeting - TopicsExpress

The Athens County Commissioners have scheduled a public meeting [for Tuesday, December 30] regarding a proposal for a third oil and gas hydraulic fracturing waste injection well in eastern Athens County. […] ACFAN member Dorothy Jean Rader told the commissioners that they represent the groups last, best hope of government officials taking a stand on the matter. The fate of our drinking water, the fate of the Hocking River and the Ohio River rests in your hands, she said. If the chemicals that are being pumped into the ground by millions of gallons every month get into the Hocking River or the Ohio River, the effects would be catastrophic. We need your help. ACFAN member Andrea Reik provided figures showing that Athens County already ranks No. 7 on the list of counties in Ohio receiving the most wastewater injection well activity, with 699,221 barrels of waste injected in 2013. One barrel equals 42 gallons of waste, documents show.
