The Atonement : Was Jesus Actually Forsaken On The Cross?... In Matthew 27:46, During His Suffering On The Cross, The LORD was Quoting Psalm 22, Which Informs us That although He was Definitely Feeling Forsaken, Because of our Sins (1 Peter 2:24), He was NOT Actually Forsaken, Because The Father did NOT Hide His Face from Him, BUT When He Cried To Him, He Heard Him(Psalm 22:24, Hebrews 5:7), Because GOD was IN Christ, Reconciling the World to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19). In Order to Qualify as an Acceptable Sacrifice, He had to be Absolutely Perfect with No Defect (Leviticus 22:21; Ephesians 5:2; Hebrews 5:9; 7:26; 1 Peter 1:18-19). He did NOT Actually Become Sin(cf. Hebrews 7:26; 13:8), as Many False Preachers and Teachers wrongly say, But by Way of Metonymy, His Soul Became A Sinless Sin-Offering(2 Corinthians 5:21/Literal Quotation of Isaiah 53:10/LXX). All of our Sins were Judicially Imputed to Him (cf. Leviticus 16ff), NOT Literally Dumped upon Him. He was Never Separated From God(e.g., Spiritual Death), as Many False Preachers and Teachers wrongly say, Because He Is Eternal Infinite GOD In Sinless Human Flesh (Isaiah 9:6; Zechariah 12:10; Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-18; 5:18; 8:58; 10:30-33; 20:28; Acts 20:28; Philippians 2:6; Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 3:16, Titus 2:13). The Infinite PRICE That He Paid for our Salvation (1 Corinthians 6:20; 7:23; 1 Peter 1:18-19), was His Infinite Shed BLOOD (Matthew 26:28; Mark 14:24; Luke 22:20; Acts 20:28; Romans 3:25; 5:9; 1 Corinthians 11:25; Ephesians 1:7; 2:13; Colossians 1:14, 20: Hebrews 9:12- 22; 10:29; 13:12, 20; ; 1 Peter 1:2, 18-19; 1 John 1:7; Revelation 1:5; 5:9; 7:14; 12:11; 19:13). Ultimately, Only The Infinite BLOOD of The Infinite GOD Could Pay The Infinite PRICE for our Sins - Acts 20:28 (cf. Matthew 26:28) 1 Corinthians 6:20, 7:23 Hebrews 9:22, 10:29 1 Peter 1:18-19 The FACT that Jesus always was and is GOD (John 1:1, Acts 20:28, cf. Hebrews 13:8), is Absolute Proof that He could Never Actually Be Forsaken by God, Nor Separated from God, Nor Become Sin... And GOD was IN Christ (NOT Separated from Him), Reconciling the World to Himself - 2 Corinthians 5:19... Re : 2 Corinthians 5:21... First, the text does NOT actually say that He became sin(which would require the Greek phrase Egeneto Hamartia), and notice the actual word become(Greek : Egeneto) is used in the last part of the verse... Second, the phrase to be was wrongly added by the translators (and is NOT in Any Greek NT)... Third, Technically (in The Greek OT & NT), this is known as Metonymy, which in 2 Corinthians 5:21, the Greek noun Hamartia Sin, is a Quotation from Isaiah 53:10 in The Greek OT, which uses the same Greek noun Hamartia to Translate the Hebrew noun for Sin Offering, Which is Literally (without the to be), He Who Knew No Sin, was made a Sin-Offering on Behalf of us, so that in Him, we should become the Righteousness of God, and all of this is thoroughly documented in D.R. McConnells excellent book A Different Gospel... Fourth, According to 1 Peter 2:23-24, He BORE our Sins in His Body on The Cross, He did NOT Become our Sin/Sins... Fifth, According 2 Corinthians 5:19, GOD was IN Christ, Reconciling the World TO HIMSELF, Therefore, It was Impossible for GOD, WHO was IN Him, to become sin... Sixth, It was Absolutely Necessary for HIM to Remain 100% Perfect AND Sinless, to Qualify as an Acceptable Offering and Sacrifice TO GOD (cf. Ephesians 5:2, Hebrews 5:9, 7:26, 9:14, 13:8)... Seventh, It was HIS Own BLOOD (i.e., The Blood of God - Acts 20:28), that Paid The PRICE for our Sins (1 Peter 1:18-19, cf. 1 Corinthians 6:20, 7:23)... Eighth, HE Always Was and Is Eternal GOD (John 1:1, 8:58, 20:28, etc...), and it is Impossible for GOD to ever Actually become sin... On The Cross, The LORD Jesus Judicially BORE our Sins (via Imputation), and Sacrificially Paid the PRICE for them with His Own BLOOD (via Atonement), BUT He did NOT Actually Become Sin(via Identification)... And, just as All of our Sins were Judicially Imputed to Him on The Cross (Imputation), All of His Righteousness is Judicially Imputed to us (Justification), and Personally Imparted to us (Sanctification)... IF Jesus had Actually Become Sin, then His BLOOD would have Become utterly Sinful, Worthless, and UN-Acceptable to GOD...
