The Aussies, Australian Surf Life Saving Championships start tomorrow at Scarborough Beach. Up to 5,000 people competing over 7 days. The drumlines were removed off Cottesloe for the Rottnest Swim on request by the organisers as they were seen to be a danger to the swimmers with sharks being attracted to the area by baited hooks. Interesting that there has been no request for the drumlines to be removed from the water off Scarborough by Surf life Saving. Could this be because they dont see sharks as being a threat to the thousands of people that will be in the water over the next 7 days? If so why do they support the use of drumlines?
