The Australian Team to participate at the 2014 Youth World Championships to be held 10-25 April, 2014 in Sofia, Bulgaria has been selected. In addition to the 10 Men’s weight categories, the 3 Women’s ‘Olympic Games’ weight categories will be contested at this Youth World Championships. The Australian Team members are: Youth Women 51kg: Tiffani Travers (NSW) 60kg: Anne-Maree Kelly (NSW) 75kg: Caitlin Parker (WA) Youth Men 52kg: Tristan Davis (WA) 56kg: Jesse Travers (NSW) 60kg: Liam Wilson (QLD) 64kg: Liam Paro (QLD) 69kg: Hone Huni (QLD) 75kg: Satali Tevi-Fuimaono (NSW) 81kg: Reagan Dessaix (QLD) 91kg: Paul Kovacs (QLD) The Australian Team will be led by Head Coach/Team Manager Mark Wilson (QLD). The Team’s Assistant Coaches are Joel Keegan (NSW) and Don Abnett (Boxing Australia National Development Coach). The 2014 Youth World Championships will be the Qualification Event for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) to be held 16-28 August, 2014 in Nanjing, China. The Men’s and Women’s weight categories to be contested at the Youth World Championships are the same as those to be contested at the Youth Olympic Games. The Nomination and Selection Criteria for the Australian Boxing YOG Team will be published shortly. The Australian Team for the 2014 Youth World Championships will prepare at the Australian Institute of Sport Combat Centre 4-9 April before departing for Bulgaria. Boxing Australia thanks the Australian Commonwealth Games Association for providing $24,500 through its ‘Australian Junior Commonwealth Games Squad’ program to financially assist the Team attend the Youth World Championships;
