It is a time of action! ... At the Equinox, we celebrate Festival of Consummation or Festival of Archangel Michael. Archangel Michael is the Gatekeeper of the Autumn Equinox and rules the entire autumnal season. The Festival of Consummation is known the Harvest Festival. In Christianity, this festival is celebrated as the Michaelmas, the Feast of Michael and All Angels. Archangel Michael is known as ‘He who is like unto God’ or ‘Radiant Countenance of the Lord.” Thus, Michael represents the ideal image or thought-form of Truth – The Christ. To the Greeks, Michael was known as Apollo, the Spirit of the Sun. The Sun is the sphere of Love, Harmony, Beauty, Revelation and Joy. Michael is the archangelic name for the aspect of the God who acts as the Director or Leader of the human Soul evolution. Michael is often portrayed as wielding the sword of Light at the dragon of ignorance. An Archangel is an archetypal form, a spiritual embodiment or ‘Intelligence’ equated with Angel. The word ‘ang-el’ means ‘idea of God’, the spiritual form that embodies the laws of Nature and the Universe. All Angels, all Spirits, all Gods and Goddesses belong to the One, the Absolute Being.
