The Axelrod Firm congratulates one of our own, James M. Payne, on being selected to participate in the The Board Observer Program! The program is a collaboration between the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, the Young Lawyers Division, and the Delivery of Legal Services Committee. Through the program, young lawyers develop leadership skills, learn about non-profit board membership, network with seasoned professionals, and serve the community. Each selected young lawyer observer is paired for a year with a Philadelphia legal services organization to observe the organization and its board activities. The organization assigns each observer a mentor from either its staff or board of trustees. Through their participation in the program, observers gain a deeper understanding of the vital functions of Philadelphia’s legal services organizations as well as practical knowledge and experience about the roles and responsibilities of board members.
