The Azafady Conservation Team are sadly saying goodbye to our longest serving member of staff this week, Lisa Carrier - Azafady Conservation Programme Co-ordinator no less! Lisa has steered the good ship ACP through both the good and bad times over the past two and a half years, and is leaving a fantastic legacy in the scientific data which she has worked so hard to collect. It is hard to properly acknowledge the amount of dedication and effort Lisa has put in during her tenure here, but everyone who knows Lisa and the conservation cause that ACP work so tirelessly for, can appreciate what a huge contribution she has made. A massive thank you Lisa - from all of Azafady ! Good luck in your new role at Chester Zoo back in the U.K ! Sadly however the enormous task of conserving Madagascars wildlife and remaining wild environments is not getting any easier, but our conservation programme is set to re-double its efforts and fight harder than ever to preserve the remaining littoral forest fragments of Sainte Luce. We are about to start several new and exciting pilot projects and have just returned from a week long expedition to forest fragment S7, a beautiful patch of isolated forest earmarked for destruction by the mining company QMM. The trip was a great success and we began training for an upcoming bird monitoring project in the area, continued with our lemur population assessment work and also our behavioural studies on the critically endangered Phelsuma antanosy.
