The Babadook has been getting a lot of attention as one of the great 2014 horror films, and i have to agree. Legitimately creepy, thanks to a sense for respect for the audience intelligence by letting the scares slowly build naturally over the course of the film, eventually getting more and more intense, without having to rely on loud noises and cheap camera tricks to get a jolt out of you. On top of that the script was great, making an otherwise basic ghost story into an engaging thematic character ark that gives every shot and editing decision, all the way to the ending, a purpose that you dont see very often in the genre. Will the ending perplex you a bit? maybe, but the clues are there, so aside from not understanding theres not much else to see negative of the film. so if youre hungry for a good scary film and 2014 left you wanting more, you cant go wrong with Babadook. https://youtube/watch?v=k5WQZzDRVtw
