The Babangida Administration 1985 - 1993: An administration headed by Major-General 1. B.Babangida set about to 1) restore basic human rights which had been trampled upon by the Buhari administration and 2) to revamp the economy which had been run aground by the BUHARI regime. Of the tasks that faced the new administration, those of human rights, the economy and governance were perhaps the most serious. (the operative phrase -the most serious meant there were other flaws). Conscious of public alienation by Buharis human rights abuses, the Babangida administration rode to popularityby seeming to redress the abuses. It immediatelyrepealed Decree No. 4 on newspaper censorship, and freed all detained journalists. It also curtailed some of the powers and excesses of the NSO,which it replaced with a new body, the StateSecurity Service (SSS). It set a date, 1990, forNigerias return to civilian rule. I ask all the juveniles who were not born then shouting SAI BUHARI to repent and let history be their guide. Nigeria must not allow this man molest us , our parents, our country and then our now children. 32yeats later. This is not the change we need. We have decided to move forward. Say no to human rights abuses, economic mismanagement resulting in bankruptcy, press gagging and other serious of fences against the Nigerian people. Nigerian youths, say NO to Tinubus agenda. If they have forgotten....we will remind them VOTE GEJ. wblurb=680#ixzz3P1hxMTpr
