The Backyard Roundup Tuesday, December 30 B-r-r-r-r... roight - TopicsExpress

The Backyard Roundup Tuesday, December 30 B-r-r-r-r... roight some cold, eh... even if the thermometer may not have reflected just how cold it felt. The gusting northwest wind was drawing from frigid Arctic air, feeding it into the Maritimes. As a result, feel like temperatures were into the low -20s. It may not look like winter in most of our region, but it surely feels like it now. In addition to the cold winds, temperatures in our region were generally around 8 to 10°C lower than seasonable. Up in northern New Brunswick, Edmundston recorded an afternoon high of -18°C, feeling like -30°C. Saint John was the hot spot in that province at -11°C with a wind chill value of -22°C. On Prince Edward Island, both Summerside and Charlottetown peaked at-11°C and felt like -24°C. In Nova Scotia, it was up to -11°C here in Pugwash and felt like -19°C. Port Hawkesbury was -11°C as well but felt colder with a wind chill of -22°C. And the Maritime hot spot today was Yarmouth at -5°C. The wind chill there was -14°C. Wonder what to expect for weather on New Years Eve? What about that potential storm on Sunday? Kalin Mitchell looks ahead in his afternoon report shared here earlier. Drop by in the morning for updates to tomorrows forecasts. #BackyardWeather (Stephen)
