The Bakersfield Californian covered the recent five-year anniversary of Casa Aurora, a community-based correctional center for women. Former inmates gathered for the ceremony to celebrate their successes, which they all said happened thanks to not only their own determination, but also the efforts of staff at the Female Rehabilitative Community Correctional Center. The small facility focuses on helping women with 36 months or less to serve on their sentences get back on their feet. This comes in the form of substance-abuse treatment, anger management, therapy and educational programs. I cant thank you enough, Athena Gallegos told the Casa Aurora counselors in the crowd.
