The Bangladesh major building collapse tragedy Is simply a mirror of the state of affairs affecting ALL 3rd world counties where ENDEMIC CORRUPTION causes the abandonment of safe and well established principles affecting construction specifications and robust building practices. Much of the aid that we so generously give, in the belief that it is going toward the wellbeing of the millions of under privileged in those countries, is simply and very swiftly siphoned into the pockets of the well to do and the Despotic ruling classes of those countries. They DO have Civil Engineers well trained by many of the well established countries including australia, but they are powerless against the rackets and shortselling going on right before their eyes. We really need to set up systems whereby WE -- administer Australian largesse and financial support for the betterment of these people.
