The Bank of Hawaii in February froze the accounts of 17 Iranian nationals living in the U.S., citing compliance with federal sanctions against Iran. The bank acknowledged in a letter that account holders had valid U.S. addresses, but said it could not stop them from traveling to Iran and accessing their accounts.
