The Barefoot Cafe Dashi and Pona Alioski of Jerseyville, Illinois, are the new owners and operators of the former Peppers Restaurant located at 301 East Jefferson Street, Potosi, in the Bearfoot Plaza Center. The Alioskis purchased the restaurant from Kelly Skaggs and Verda Wren on February 17th and have been busy cleaning and remodeling and outfitting the facility for their new business operation. The couple are co-owners of another restaurant in Illinois, but the local endeavor will be the first on their own. They both have a long history of restaurant operation in their backgrounds with them feeling like they’re going in the “family business.” Her father and grandfather have a history in the restaurant business for many years mostly in Illinois. The couple worked for her father in his restaurant in Maryville, Illinois, before deciding to go out on their own. Bearfoot Cafe opened on Monday, March 10th. They will be in operation 6 A.M. to 9 P.M. Monday thru Saturday and 6 A.M. to 3 P.M. Sundays offering Breakfast (All Day for most items). Lunch and Dinner. Questions or orders call 573/436-9110. They feature a wide variety of menu items some of which include Pastas, Stir Fries, Traditional Burgers, Cheeseburgers, Sandwiches, Seafoods, Steaks, Etc. with all the trimmings. They also have Fresh Homemade Soup Daily. Dashi and Pona stated that they are “Happy to be in such a friendly community and look forward to serving the public’s daily culinary wants and needs.” Pona noted, “When we first got here it felt like home to me.
