The Bay Village Board of Education has purchased the home and lot for sale at 30406 Maple Drive in Bay Village for $149,000, plus $800 in fees. The assessed value of the home was $170,000. The lot borders the south side of Westerly Elementary School property. Superintendent Clint Keener said that the district will evaluate whether the home should be rented out for now or demolished. Ultimately, the school board’s intended use of the property is for expansion of parking and/or playground space at Westerly Elementary School. “This was a unique opportunity for the Board of Education,” said Keener. “The lot is 110 feet wide and 368 feet deep, giving us a lot of flexibility for future expansion.” Treasurer Kevin Robertson and Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations Daryl Stumph were granted authority by the board, at its regular meeting on December 8, to participate in the December 29, 2014 auction managed by the Cuyahoga County Sheriffs Department.
