The Beatles complete Decca Records audition of January 1, 1962. While they were clearly a little rough around the edges at this stage -- and no doubt subject to considerable stage fright, which led to some noticeable rough spots in their performance that day -- their talent was still clearly evident to anyone paying close enough attention. Still, for whatever reason, Decca chose to sign another band instead. No harm, no foul. Those are the breaks. If the record company had just left it at that, no one would have thought much of it. But, instead they chose to sum up the Beatles future prospects in an incredibly shortsighted statement that will forever live in infamy: The Beatles have no future in show business. Well, we all know how THAT turned out! Fortunately, that early setback didnt stop the lads, who, almost as if to prove that they didnt need Decca to make it, went right ahead and created that future anyway! And while they were at it, just for good measure, they took it one step further and revolutionized music! You were saying, Decca? ;)
