The Beatles were not scheduled to play in Kansas City on their U.S. tour 50 years ago but they did and opened with Kansas City at Municipal Stadium on 17 September 1964 on what was supposed to be a day off - Charles Finley owner of the baseball team there persuaded Brian Epstein to schedule his group for $150,000 - $100,000 more than they were getting per venue on the 1964 tour - he was a normal businessman - offering $50,000 first - then $100,000 - then the $150,000 that did the trick Finley wanted to buy the Philadelphia Athletics in 1954 - the successful bidder moved the team to Kansas City where Finley was able to buy in in 1960 and became the owner in 1961 - he moved the As to Oakland in 1968
