The Beatles won an Academy Award in the Original Song Score category for their 1970 documentary Let It Be. The film premiered in May of 1970 and was released on VHS in the early 80s, but has been out of print since. Some say that any new release of the film (which shows the Beatles close to their breakup and bickering) has been blocked by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr since it represents an unhappy time. However, the film, even with its at times uncomfortable subject matter, is a time capsule that features the greatest band of all time. For that, it deserves to again see the light of day.
