The Benita Willis 10km Handicap Club Trophy was won today by Brendan Bishop with a blistering five minute personal best time for the 10km. Brendan secured the win over Julie Whibley and Greame Harris. Congratulations to the more than fifty runners who congregated at the Bluewater Lagoon parklands to contest the third Mackay Road Runners annual Benita Willis 10km handicap trophy. Olympian and local running legend, Benita Willis personally selected the 10km distance as one of her favourite distances and has subsequently donated autographed photos and an Olympic shirt in an awesome framed perpetual trophy for the outstanding club member who crosses the line first based on their 10km handicap start time. Perfect running conditions allowed runners to have the opportunity to run a great time, as many did.
