The Trial before Pilate (Matthew 27:11-26; Mark 15:1-15; Luke 23:1-25; John 18:28-19:15) After Jesus was condemned by the Jewish authorities, he was sent to Pilate, then to Herod (in Luke only), then back to Pilate, before he was sentenced to death. Pilate found little reason for execution and offered to release one prisoner; the Jews choose Barabbas.
