The Biblical baby name Isaac is Hebrew in origin and its meaning - TopicsExpress

The Biblical baby name Isaac is Hebrew in origin and its meaning is laughter or he laughs. Isaac is pronounced ie-zek. Isaac was the son of Abraham and Sarah. He was born when his parents were very aged. When God told Abraham that he was to be a father at the age of 100 years, he thought He was laughing at him, and so Isaac was named. When Isaac was a young man, his father Abraham was commanded by God to sacrifice his son Isaac on the Mount Moriah, as proof of his obedience. Abraham unhesitatingly prepared to do so, but was stopped by God. In the New Testament, this episode is compared to Gods sacrifice of His own son, Jesus. - See more at: biblical-baby-names/meaning-of-isaac.html#sthash.sfOjKC0A.dpuf
