The Big Read: a call for community performers “Memory is the sense of loss, and loss pulls us after it.” ― Marilynne Robinson, Housekeeping Performers of all ages and type (dance, theater, music) are invited to join The Big Read closing event on May 1: a creation and presentation of a performance work that will take place to close the 6-week community program for “The Big Read --2014. Under the direction of choreographer and director Bard Professor Jean Churchill, the Big Read Group will create a site-specific work that responds to and reflects some themes and events that make Housekeeping the very unusual novel that it is. Dancers, actors and musicians will work together in rehearsal. People with experience as performers are welcome as are interested amateurs with little to no experience. Commitment involves a minimum of 2 two-hour rehearsals to create the piece April 20 (at Bard) and April 26 (on site). Additional rehearsals maybe be scheduled. Volunteers are welcome to create original material that can be incorporated into the piece. Please contact Professor Jean Churchill at [email protected] if interested.
