The Blood ees the Life, Meester Renfield from the 1931 movie - TopicsExpress

The Blood ees the Life, Meester Renfield from the 1931 movie Dracula. This quote comes to mind whenever I donate blood, which I did today at City of Hope. Ive been doing this for over 50 years now. Its a situation where it is definitely better to give than to receive; people whove never donated may ask Does it hurt? Well, donors do get poked with a needle twice, but consider the patient whos receiving the blood--now thats HURT! I also took the opportunity to get some progress photos of the Gold Line Foothill Extension. Pictures: 1 and 2, City of Hope Blood Donor center. 3) A golden bandage for a follower of the Gold Line. 4) The Duarte Gold Line Station. Next year Ill be able to take the train to give blood. 5) Trolley wire is up over the GLOC yard. 6) Poles are in place for installing the wire from the yard to the main line. 7) There was a discussion of switch-position signals on Trainorders; these will govern movements in and out of the yard. 8) Switch machine--this provide remote control of track switches (or points as our British friends would say.)
