The Blood of Jesus is Our Stronghold We are living in a very interesting time. Jesus’ return is near, and as a result, the enemy is doing everything he can to steal, kill, and destroy as many people as possible. The spirit of fear is rampant in the world today, and those who do not have a relationship with the Lord are ruled by it. However, Christians who know and understand the covenant they have with God have nothing to fear. Regardless of what is going on around us, or how bad things get, the Lord is a stronghold of defense for Believers who put their trust in Him. It should be no surprise that current events are pointing toward the culmination of the end of this age. The rapture of the Church will mark a monumental moment in history that will forever change the landscape of life for people all over the world, and it could take place at any time. Wars, rumors of wars, natural disasters, global economic downturns, and many other catastrophic events are not only on the horizon but are taking place now. In the midst of all these things, our comfort can be found in Psalm 91, which promises divine protection and peace for those who trust in the Lord and continually abide in His presence. He is our stronghold in times of trouble. Many times, when Believers talk about strongholds, it is in a negative context. Second Corinthians 10:3-5 talks about “pulling down” strongholds. These types of strongholds are actually demonically constructed houses of thought that exist in a person’s mind, which must be destroyed by the Word of God. However, strongholds are not all negative. The Word of God, the presence of God, and the blood of Jesus are also strongholds that provide a safe haven from the attacks of the enemy. When Psalm 91:1 talks about the “secret place of the most High,” it is actually talking about the blood of Jesus. When Christians stay under the covering of the blood of Jesus by faith, they are absolutely protected and safe for all time, and throughout eternity. Zechariah 9:11, 12 says, “As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even today do I declare that I will render double unto thee.” The blood of the new covenant, which is the blood of Jesus, is a stronghold that is a place of security and prosperity. So how do we make God our refuge and habitation? We do this by declaring what the Word says about the blood and about the security that is found in His presence. When we say what we believe, we make what we believe a reality. Therefore, we must declare every day that we dwell in the secret place of the most High, and we are covered under the blood of Jesus. Daily confession of God’s Word is what activates the divine protection of the Lord and releases angelic assistance. Even though others may succumb around us, we will not be touched by the disasters and catastrophes the enemy has planned. We know where and in whom our hope lies. All we need to do is trust, believe, and speak the Word of God!
