The Boudain Report: Over the last 3 days, Ive had the good - TopicsExpress

The Boudain Report: Over the last 3 days, Ive had the good fortune to taste 3 of Port Arthurs best boudains. Judices (7th Street Location), Boudain Hut, and Nicks. Now Im no expert, but I did live and breathe boudain growing up in PA. So...Anyway, heres the report... Boudain Hut - 8/10 stars for the Spicy. 8/10 for the mild. Boudain Hut excels in flavor, texture, consistency, and originality, while kicking in a really good cayenne pepper burst in both the spicy and the mild varieties. Good ratio of rice and meat. Very traditional. Best flavor over all. Judices - What can I say? Its Judices. 8/10 for the spicy and 8/10 for the mild. I will say I felt the Boudain Hut had better consistency and flavor, but I just cant give Judices less than 8/10 on reputation alone. Good mix of rice and meat. Less livery than Boudain Hut. Solid Product. Nicks - Oh Lordy. I never thought Id say this, but 6/10 for Nicks. Might have been an off day, but everyone involved in the tasting was disappointed in Nicks. First off, way too much rice. Second, not enough meat. Third, veggies were still raw. Not sure if it was just a fluke, since in the past Nicks has always been my go to. But, It was mostly flavorless. Sorry to say that. I feel really bad about it. Ill continue to buy from Nicks in the future. I sure hope this was just a bad day. Hope yall enjoyed the Boudain Report! I hope to get back to PA soon and go to some of the new Seafood places as well as the old! Maybe do another write up. :-) Bon Appetit!
