The Boundary 500 Motorcycle Group - Santa Ride In December 2006, 28 brave souls turned up for our first run. All the riders and pillions had to wear a Santa Suit. The event went very well and we raised about £1600. The decision was made that the ride should become an annual event. In December 2007, 130 motorcyclists turned up for the annual ‘Santa Ride’. The suits were provided by Zoë’s Baby Hospice and were paid for by entry fees. The sight of 130 motorcyclists dressed, as Santa’s has to be seen to be believed. The event is now well established and supported by local Councils and the Emergency Services. The established route the ride now follows, is starting from Thornaby Town Centre, travelling through, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Redcar Sea Front and finishing at Kirkleatham Hall for a bacon butty and a hot brew. When the procession arrives at Kirkleatham Hall, Cleveland Police Band and Guisborough Ladies choir will be playing/singing a selection of Carol’s. The lead vehicle is a Fire engine and Cleveland and Durham Police Motorcycle Sections provide the escort. An open Double Decker Bus carrying local dignitaries follows the procession. The event is sponsored by John Simpson formerly of Lord Stones Cafe, Carlton, Nr Stokesley. The 2006 ride raised in excess of £1600. The 2007 ride raised in excess of £19,000.
