The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a very sad movie. It’s a about a boy who has a Nazi soldier for a dad and gets relocated next to a concentration camp. He discovers many things and has the truth hidden from him. He eventually learns the hard way and has a tragic accident. This movie is about a boy named Bruno who faces a new setting; a house next to a concentration camp. Bruno’s dad is a Nazi soldier who gets the position to watch over a concentration camp and because of that he gets relocated to a house close to the camp. Bruno’s whole family has to move there. The parents, Bruno, and his sister. His sister accepts Nazism and praises it, but Bruno doesn’t really get it throughout the movie. Bruno questions about the “farmers” with the striped pajamas. He thinks the Jews are farmers, just weirdly dressed. There’s one who aides the family and Bruno treats him as a normal person like what the Jew really is. The others treat him like crap. Bruno then snoops around the backyard and eventually finds the concentration camp. Bruno encounters a Jewish prisoner boy named Shmuel who is also in “striped pajamas.” Bruno assumes that he is just another boy and wants to plays games. The Jewish boy asks Bruno for food because obviously he’s hungry. Bruno always wants to play and never really understands what’s going on. Shmuel then gets sent to Bruno’s house to clean cups and glasses. Bruno spots Shmuel and offers him food. Shmuel obviously takes it and then get caught by the young Nazi officer. The Nazi asks Shmuel if he took it by himself but Shmuel explains that Bruno gave it to him. Bruno denies it and Shmuel gets beaten. Bruno feels bad for what he did and doesn’t forgives himself and always visits the concentration camp, until Shmuek finally comes out with a bruise on his eye. They had agreed that they were still friends. Shmuel explains to Bruno that the Nazis took his father and that he wanted to find him. They make a deal that Shmuel will get Bruno “pajamas” and Bruno will go inside the camp to help look for Shmuel’s dad and Bruno has to bring Shmuel a sandwich. The next day, Bruno arrives at the concentration camp. Shmuel gives Bruno the clothes and Bruno gives Shmuel the sandwich. Bruno goes inside the camp by digging under the fence. They go inside and Bruno realizes how scary it is to be inside the concentration camp and wants to go back, but Shmuel convinces him to keep going. Even after being inside the camp, Bruno still doesn’t realizes what’s going on. He asks “where’s the café,” and Shmuel just gives him a weird look. They then run in into a hut and they get forced outside and get escorted to a gas chamber. They get ordered to get undressed and then get stuck into a chamber. The Jews think it’s just a shower. While all of this is going on, Bruno’s family is going crazy looking for Bruno. And just as the dad gets to chamber, they get gassed. They realized what has happened and they are devastated.
