The Bread of the Presence Twelve loaves of bread were stacked atop a table in the holy place of the temple. They were holy, imbued with the presence of the God before whom they sat. Every Sabbath the priests consumed them and replaced them with a dozen more. Gone are those days. Present is the better bread of the presence, imbued with Gods holy body, the temple of his flesh filling with flesh this loaf of divine love. Take and eat, O baptized priests, and you shall be sanctified, made holy, by him who alone is holy.
